Growing Up

In their first 13 weeks, our kittens change from defenceless, blind, 3 ounce squirmers to boisterous, alert 3 pound juveniles forever exploring and learning to fend for themselves in the real world.

They quickly settle into their new homes and at the 14 week point may be shown as kittens. (For show purposes cats become adult when nine months old).

Neutered adults are shown as 'neuters' and have their own show classes.

Unneutered females sometimes start calling before they're six months old and may go to stud before their first birthday (aged 14 in human terms). Males become fertile a little later than the girls and if unneutered may spray their territory and try to escape in search of mates. This is why breeders keep them in roomy, specially designed accommodation and supply them with neutered female companions for the times when they aren't busy with visiting queens.
And so the cycle is repeated until the sweet little kitten becomes a Great Great Great Great Grandmother in only eleven human years!
